CHVRCHES released their Screen Violence album in the summer of last year.
CHVRCHES closed out their UK tour in Manchester on March 19th, the band having been on the road in support of their fourth studio album and in doing so reflecting the upturn in fortunes for live music since its release.
Like so many of recent times, the album first began to emerge with the band separated, remote sessions in Los Angeles and Glasgow at least affording them the space to write music which could remove them from the here and now, and all its obvious challenges.
“I think for me it was helpful to go into the process with the idea that I could write something escapist almost,” Lauren Mayberry said.
“That felt freeing initially, to have concepts and stories to weave your own feelings and experiences through but in the end, all the lyrics were definitely still personal.”
