Our coverage of Idles’ ongoing tour of the UK continues from the Glasgow Barrowlands.
Idles have two more shows in Glasgow tonight and tomorrow before the final date of their UK tour takes place at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on February 18th.
A run of European concerts are then scheduled for the first part of March as the band dive into the deep end of the live work behind last year’s essential Crawler LP.
“Co-produced by Kenny Beats and guitarist/exotic dancer Mark Bowen, its theme is exploration; musically, lyrically, emotionally,” our review reads.
“Bowen and Talbot felt at the outset that Idles Version X had made itself redundant, drained of ideas. With repetition viewed as a proxy for slow creative death, this is the result.”
“Its centerpiece is The Beachland Ballroom, a track of raw-boned soul which stoically draws a line back to the toughness of the movement’s original sound, birthed more than half a century ago, a bastard child of gospel and the blues.”
