Taylor Swift will also be releasing a special Record Store Day 2022 vinyl.

Taylor Swift has been announced as Record Store Day‘s first ever ‘global ambassador’ as the campaign reaches another milestone in 2022.

It’s now 15 years since the initiative was launched to aid what in 2007 was a vinyl format which had been pushed far to the margins of the music industry market, taking the fortunes of many independent record shops with it.

Today, vinyl sales continue to break records, and RSD’s part in moving vinyl back into the mainstream will be recognised by one of music’s biggest stars taking a lead role this time.

“I’m very proud to be this year’s Ambassador for Record Store Day,” Swift has said. “The places where we go to browse and explore and discover music new and old have always been sacred to me.”

“Record stores are so important because they help to perpetuate and foster music-loving as a passion. They create settings for live events. They employ people who adore music thoroughly and purely.”
