Our recap of the stories we featured during the past seven days includes the return of the Arctic Monkeys and a 30th anniversary for U2.

Not long after drummer Matt Helders disclosed that the band’s new album is close to completion, Arctic Monkeys have revealed their initial plans for what’s thus likely to prove to be a busy 2022.

Tour dates in Turkey, Bulgaria, Croatia and the Czech Republic have been arranged for August 2022 following the pre-pandemic wrap-up of Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino – a Live4ever album of the year in 2018.

The Courteeners have added an extra date to their ongoing ‘Whites Of Their Eyes’ UK tour, and will now conclude it at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on November 27th.

The band were due in Scunthorpe on November 19th as their run of show celebrating 15 years since their live debut continued.

Dave Rowntree has signed to Cooking Vinyl with an eye on the release of his debut solo album next year.

“As a kid I used to spend hours spinning the dial on my radio, dreaming of escape to all the places whose exotic stations I heard,” a statement from Rowntree reads.

U2 will release new editions of Achtung Baby on the 30th anniversary of their seventh studio album.

Standard and deluxe colour vinyl reissues were first up on November 19th, followed by a digital boxset version on December 3rd which will carry with it bonus content such as b-sides and remixes.

Girl Band will start a new era as Gilla Band when they play Dolan’s NYE Show in Limerick at the end of next month.

Explaining the change, which is also announced in time for a three-night run at Whelans in Dublin during January next year, a statement reads: “We will no longer be performing or releasing records under the name Girl Band.”
