Kelly Lee Owens wins 2021 Welsh Music Prize

“It feels amazing,” Kelly Lee Owens said. “As a Welsh artist, to be recognised by your country, ultimately for me, is the greatest honour.”

Kelly Lee Owens has won the 2021 Welsh Music Prize thanks to last year’s second studio album Inner Song.

Owens received £10,000 when last collecting the prize at the 11th annual ceremony in Cardiff last night – albeit via Zoom – host Huw Stephens saying:

“We are thrilled. The judges were all astounded by this album. Owens has been so critically acclaimed for this record, and we are so happy that she is the 2021 Welsh Music Prize winner.”
