“We’re so excited about Green Man’s 20th birthday and we’re planning to celebrate his big anniversary with lots of wonderful surprises and the best party ever,” festival owner Fiona Stewart says.

Soon after its return last month, Green Man Festival organisers are looking ahead to the 2022 edition with confirmation of Michael Kiwanuka as its first headliner.

Kiwanuka has been riding high after the release of his near-self-titled album in November 2019 which went on to win the Mercury Prize the following year.

“I hope it’s something that people can hear and be inspired by,” he told NME at the time.

“I hope it inspires people who maybe have a similar story to mine or people who, in other ways, maybe feel like they’re going into something that is maybe outside of their comfort zone or not usually the path they would be expected to take.”
