W. H. Lung have our editor’s pick of the week’s new tracks after the band returned this week with news of their second album Vanities.

The video for this lead single, Pearl In The Palm, reflects the influence of a return to nature on the follow-up to 2019’s essential debut Incidental Music; indeed, the band’s move from Manchester to Todmorden pre-lockdown means another notch can be added to the increasingly fertile Calder Valley area of northern England.

“The story of the video speaks to that connection with nature so everything was shot outside, in the rain, in the cold, in the quiet of the early morning,” Joe Evans has explained.

“There’s water, there’s forest, there’s bog, there’s a donkey. We wanted to say something about creative expressiveness too, which comes through in the amazing outfits.”

“I think there’s also something in the video about spontaneous living and flowing with the unexpected. Like, a balloon? I’ll have a day out with it!”
