Our recap of the stories we featured during the past seven days includes new album details from Damon Albarn and Lorde.

Just a few days after Transgressive announced he had joined them for the release of his second solo album, Damon Albarn confirmed the details of The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows.

Albarn’s follow-up to 2014’s solo debut Everyday Robots is scheduled for November 12th, an album which evolved during lockdown from the project which he’d first intended to tour last year had events not taken the course they did.

Love City is the fictional setting for The Vaccines’ new album Back in Love City, which will be released on September 10th.

Justin Young came up with concept after house-swapping in Los Angeles; “I literally swapped lives with a stranger,” he says. “I lived in in house and drove his car while he lived in mine, but we’d never met and had no previous connections.”

Childish Gambino, Bon Iver and Laura Mvula have all contributed to a reimagining of Brittany Howard’s debut solo album Jamie.

Named after Howard’s sister who died of cancer when they were teenagers, the 2019 LP will be reinterpreted on July 23rd and, according to the Alabama Shakes singer, has kept the same spirit as the original recordings.

Lorde has confirmed the details of her new album Solar Power and world tour dates for next year.

Her third studio LP will be released on August 20th, the lead off title-track on there with eleven other new songs such as Fallen Fruit, Dominoes and Mood Ring.

Metallica will celebrate 30 years of The Black Album on September 10th with a remastered, multi-format reissue and a brand new album containing newly recorded versions of select tracks by over 50 artists.

Mac DeMarco, Weezer, Moses Sumney and Phoebe Bridgers are just some of those who’ve contributed to the Metallica Black List record, whose proceeds will be going to numerous selected charities, while the take on Nothing Else Matters by Miley Cyrus, WATT, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Robert Trujillo and Chad Smith is streaming online now.

Kendal Calling organisers have confirmed they’ve been forced to cancel their festival for a second successive year.

The latest inaction from the UK government, on this occasion regarding the findings from their Event Research Programme, has been cited as one the main reasons for what those organisers accurately describe as an ‘infuriating’ situation.
