It’s Idles’ contribution to the DC Comics Dark Nights: Death Metal soundtrack.
Idles have released a new song entitled Sodium to streaming platforms today.
“Did a new song for the DC Comics Dark Nights: Death Metal Soundtrack album amongst some pretty esteemed company,” the band explain. “Tried something a bit different, put on a different mask as it were.”
It’s another treat for us self-confessed Idles obsessives after their third studio album Ultra Mono was followed up recently with a cover of Gang Of Four’s post-punk classic Damaged Goods for the Andy Gill celebratory compilation.
“IDLES does not exist without Gang Of Four,” they said. “Damaged Goods still sounds new and exciting after the millionth listen. We jumped at the chance to just to play it, let alone record it. It was an honour, a joy and a privilege.”
