Chrysalis continues its celebration of 2 Tone with The Specials’ classic.
A 40th anniversary release of The Specials’ single Ghost Town has been announced by Chrysalis Records.
One of the UK’s most influential labels has already been remembered by the relaunched Chrysalis with re-releases of staples such as The Selecter’s debut album Too Much Pressure, and now perhaps the signature 2 Tone anthem will be reissued too.
A half-speed master EP will be available on 7” and 12”, carrying the extended version of Ghost Town along with Why? and Friday Night Saturday Morning.
“It is amazing that Chrysalis have decided to reissue the Ghost Town E.P. – frightening that it was really forty years ago – and equally frightening that it still seems relevant today,” Jerry Dammers says.
“Sad also to remember the late John Bradbury with that relentless kick drum, and if you didn’t get the twelve inch the first time, now is your chance to have in your possession on vinyl, the mournful and masterful trombone solo by Jamaican legend Rico Rodriguez, who is also very sadly missed.”
Yes it is awesome can’t believe I’m the first to comment on this. Worth it for the sax solo alone. A fine remix. Love it, I can’t believe it was 40 years ago either, I was 11. I was a full blown mod. One of the best songs ever. Still very poignant for Britain. Now if not more so.
