The Streets add second night at inaugural South Facing Festival

Mike Skinner stays busy after restarting The Streets in 2018.

Those of us in the UK are of course looking forward to the potential end of lockdown. To the height of spring. To the return of live music.

Not many of us though have encapsulated it in a song called Who’s Got The Bag (21st June). Mike Skinner has, and after declaring his own pining for some normality come that month, he’ll be able to enjoy a bit more time up on stage with The Streets after confirming a second night at the inaugural edition of South Facing Festival.

“It’s been too long since I’ve been behind some decks, or on a stage, in a tour bus sleeping in a bunk,” Skinner’s said. “The moment we can do it we want to be the rave and we will.”

“It’s also about hospitality, events and nightclubs not being able to take anymore,” he added about the track. “It’s a protest song: it’s saying, don’t change the date on us again! FIRST IN THE ROOM. 21 June.”

South Facing will be reviving the Crystal Palace Bowl in London in August, The Streets now due there on the 21st and 22nd, while other booked acts include Supergrass and Dizzee Rascal.

“Not only do we have some amazing artists who are itching to put on a great show, we also have the privilege of being able to stage the festival at an iconic and important outdoor London venue, which has sadly been dormant in recent years,” director Marcus Weedon said.

“We’re all working incredibly hard to make sure South Facing is a fitting return to glory for the Crystal Palace Bowl!”
