“It’s time to take back the stage,” Richard Ashcroft said when the dates were first announced. “Music is power.”

Fans will have to wait a little longer to catch Richard Ashcroft at the London Palladium this year.

Already racking up plenty of festival bookings as the UK’s summer season hopes to swing back into action in 2021, the headline dates originally set for May 21st and 22nd have now been moved to October 16th and 17th.

The Verve frontman had been a much busier solo bee until pandemic restrictions put a halt to the increased activity which had started in 2016 with These People and continued two years later with Natural Rebel.

“And so Mad Richard disappeared for a few years, re-emerging in 2016 with the strong These People which added some house sprinkle to his universal musings,” our review of the latter reads.

“Since then he has been ubiquitous, most notably as Liam Gallagher’s soul partner in crime. Huge support slots in Manchester for Liam as well as Roger Waters (not to mention a ‘secret’ set at Finsbury Park), have only served to remind people of some of his astonishing songwriting achievements.”

“He’s also running a hilarious PR campaign thanks to The Coral although, needless to say, he’s not taking mockery well.”
