Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has released a new song under his Kele solo moniker.

The video for The Heart Of The Wave, a track which ‘started quite absent mindedly’, was directed Jack Chute at a locked-down Margate.

“During lockdown I was spending a lot of time playing electric guitar in my room and I found on some of the bleakest days making the swirling guitar loops calmed me down,” Kele says. “It was almost like a kind of therapy for me.”

Okereke is also working on the as-yet untitled sixth studio album from Bloc Party, after 2019 also saw him out on the road with the band celebrating their Silent Alarm debut LP.

“This Modern Love is not an obvious choice, but like an old friend you’ve not seen in a long time, everything settles back into place and you leave wondering why you’d left it so long to catch up,” Live4ever’s live review reads.

“And there’s Helicopter, which even after all these years is completely unstoppable. This is why people watch Bloc Party, for their ability to marry absolute ferocity with real moments of beauty.”
