New Music Friday: Goat Girl – On All Fours

Goat Girl On All Fours

Goat Girl have released On All Fours today on New Music Friday – check it out on Live4ever.

The second Goat Girl album is out now after a run of strong singles since it was announced in September built up to a record which Live4ever ultimately scored 8.5/10 in our review:

“More remarkable however is their sonic evolution: roping in their old friend Dan Carey on production duties, it seems like no instrument or no aesthetic was out of bounds during the recording sessions, with a whole cornucopia of sounds forming the record.”

Earlier, the band had told Live4ever in an exclusive interview all about their work in the studio with Carey, and how he helped to hone a broader sound on the follow-up to the 2018 self-titled debut.

“We were writing with synth quite a lot, it was an integral part of the writing process,” they said.

“We changed around our instruments a lot as well. Most of the time we were writing, someone was playing keys, so it went from there.”

“Dan helped us translate it into the recording process. We hadn’t played with a click before because it didn’t suit the band, but when we played it with Dan we did some pre-production.”

“Dan helped us make some beats on a sampler, and Rosy was playing along with that which made it feel more natural than a cold click. That made it work and that was his idea.”
