It follows last year’s album from The Hold Steady, Thrashing Thru The Passion.

The Hold Steady have confirmed the details of their next full length release.

Open Door Policy is to be released in the February of next year, recorded at The Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, New York with Josh Kaufman. Guest in the studio included Stuart Bogie, Jordan McLean, Cassandra Jenkins, Annie Nero and Matt Barrick.

“Open Door Policy was very much approached as an album vs. a collection of individual songs, and it feels like our most musically expansive record,” Craig Finn says.

“This album was written and almost entirely recorded before the pandemic started, but the songs and stories explore power, wealth, mental health, technology, capitalism, consumerism, and survival – issues which have compounded in 2020.”

The first track lifted is Family Farm, one Finn believes is a Hold Steady ‘classic’, one of their ‘driving rock songs with piano breaks’.
