Don Letts edits new video for The Clash’s The Magnificent Seven

It was originally released as the third single from The Clash’s Sandinista! album.

A new video has been released for The Clash’s single The Magnificent Seven as its parent album hits the big 4-0.

Don Letts has edited the video which features rare footage of the legendary band performing on The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder, spliced up with the band members in Manhattan during their lengthy residency at what was then the recently reopened Bond International Casino in New York City.

“They were always ahead of the game – Sandinista! signposted the multi-cultural way music was going and the elements that make The Clash great are still a currency that’s recognised by youth in the 21st century,” Don Letts reflects.

The 1980 follow-up to the all-time classic London Calling LP, if anything Sandinista! took the ambition and scope of that album even further, perhaps even too far, across a sprawling two-hour-plus tracklist.
