Black Midi, New Road is back again!

They’ve already performed together at the venue, and they’ve already helped to raise funds via their Extended Jam contribution to this year’s wonderful live album. Now, black midi and Black Country, New Road have more plans for Black Midi, New Road and the Windmill in London.

They’ve got a pre-recorded livestream due to go out on December 10th on Bandcamp, £5 bringing you original music, more improvised jams and covers to help support the Brixton space.

The Windmill has been one of the hardest fought for grassroots venues in the UK this year as the entire industry has battled against the impact of pandemic restrictions, led unwaveringly by the Music Venue Trust.

That aforementioned album fundraiser also contained tracks recorded live at the venue by the likes of Fontaines D.C., Kate Tempest and Shame. It was opened by Goat Girl, who in a recent interview with Live4ever summed up the Windmill as ‘an important music venue’.

“And socially; there’s people that don’t even go for the gigs, it’s such an important place that should be protected,” they told us.

“They’ve got a crowd-funder which they’ve had since the beginning of lockdown. A lot of bands are sharing that. Holly Whittaker, a photographer we work with a lot, is selling prints with the profits going to the venue. We’ve talked about doing a fundraiser too. It’s really important to make sure it’s still there.”
