New Music Friday: Future Islands – As Long As You Are

As Long As You Are

Future Islands have released their sixth studio album As Long As You Are today – have a listen on New Music Friday below.

Previewed with singles such as For Sure and the impressive Thrill, the album was co-produced by the band with engineer Steve Wright and follows up 2017’s The Far Field. It’s also notable as their first with the permanent addition of drummer Mike Lowry.

During the build-up to this release, Samuel T Herring has been reflecting on the now-infamous performance of Seasons (Waiting On You) on the Late Show With David Letterman which, four years after their debut, catapulted the band into the mainstream and that year’s Singles album into the Top 40 in both the UK and the US.

“It’s taken me six years to come to terms with Letterman,” he told The Independent. “People saw us as this overnight success but I didn’t want to be seen that way. We were ready for that moment.”
