The countdown to Royal Blood‘s successor to the 2017 second studio album How Did We Get So Dark? is going to start on September 24th.

After a wink here and a nudge there, the duo have confirmed on social media that their new single Trouble’s Coming is going to be premiered on that date, and will be made available as a 7″ vinyl.

Number three is a crucial one for Royal Blood; in our review of their last record, Live4ever observed that, ‘next time round Kerr and Thatcher need to stop being grateful just for being there, grab the bull by the horns, and kill or be killed’:

“It’s also fair to say that the two-man wall of sound formation is something we’re deeply adjusted to now, its strengths and weaknesses largely obliterated by feel,” the review reads. “Royal Blood sound serious, but once you realise that Kerr is singing about dysfunctional relationships rather than making roadside pacts with the devil, the cat’s out of the bag.”

“Not so dark then, and when they get it wrong you end up with the Kasabian-esque stream of consciousness of Hook, Line & Sinker, aimless rote punctuated by a stream of over compensatory drum fills, noise on noise for noise’s sake.”
