Not long after they were announced, the constantly changing nature of the UK government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic means the final gigs at Newcastle’s Virgin Money Unity Arena have been cancelled.

Kaiser Chiefs tomorrow and Declan McKenna on September 20th were set to be the final shows at the specially constructed, socially distanced venue, but with tighter lockdown restrictions now coming into place in the north east area of England, the concert series has come to an abrupt end.

“It is extremely disappointing to have to cancel these final shows at the end of what has been an incredible six week run of successfully socially-distanced concerts,” organiser Steve Davis has responded. “We’re honoured to have been able to provide a little happiness and joy to thousands of music and comedy fans throughout the region and the UK in what has been such a tough 2020 for everyone.”
