Hamilton Leithauser has revisited his residency at Café Carlyle in New York at the start of this year for the release of a live album on September 4th.
As the Walkmen frontman has noted on social media, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic these shows have proved to be his only live appearances of the year – despite releasing one of its best albums in the form of The Loves Of Your Life. “I didn’t realize at the time that the five shows I played in January at Café Carlyle would be the only live shows I would do in 2020,” he’s written.
“I’m glad I recorded one of them. I found the tapes a few months later during this quarantine and realized I wanted to share a bunch of them with a wider audience. The band was awesome, and it’s the closest thing to playing live I have right now, so it really was a fun thing to put together.”
