Kasabian have announced the departure of their charismatic frontman Tom Meighan.

Meighan’s showmanship, coupled with the mass pleasing songwriting instincts of Serge Pizzorno, propelled the two long-time friends to huge success in the UK following the release of their band’s self-titled debut album in 2004 as equally appealing live shows became their staple, delivering career highlights such as a Glastonbury headline and a concert at the home of their beloved Leicester City.

But now, the partnership has ended by ‘mutual consent’, with a short statement revealing that Meighan is leaving to concentrate on ‘getting his life back on track’:

“Kasabian have announced today that Tom Meighan is stepping down from the band by mutual consent. Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track.”
