New Music Friday: Bob Dylan – Rough And Rowdy Ways

Rough And Rowdy Ways 1

Bob Dylan has released Rough And Rowdy Ways today, his first collection of original material since the arrival of Tempest in 2012. Have a listen on New Music Friday.

The album is split into two ‘volumes’, the first opening with the delightful, previously shared I Contain Multitudes, inspired by New York poet Walt Whitman. Volume two is comprised of another track we’ve already heard, the near-17 minute Murder Most Foul – a sixties ode which take its lead from the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

“Greetings to my fans and followers with gratitude for all your support and loyalty over the years,” Dylan said when unveiling the latter track. “This is an unreleased song we recorded a while back that you might find interesting.”

Also included on the album are highlights such as the classic Dylan strains of I’ve Made Up My Mind To Give Myself To You and the equally trademark, Americana storytelling of Key West (Philosopher Pirate).
