Liz Lawrence is streaming another new single, this one entitled Hope (Or Something Like It).
Coming with her own lockdown diary video, the track immediately follows California Screaming, and last year’s excellent Pity Party album. “The question at the heart of hope is one of worth, some way of finding some vital reason for what I do,” she says.
“At the start of lockdown I felt sort of awkward and guilty that I wasn’t doing more, that I couldn’t be of more use and that’s when I wrote ‘Hope’ as a way of feeling like I could try to contribute to people’s healing or provide catharsis but the song at its core is also asking the question of my worth and the artist’s role on the planet. I only hope that in the grand equation people like my work as much as I love making it.”
