Alison Mosshart has premiered the track which will form part of a physical 7″ release with her debut solo track Rise on July 31st.
After Rise was unveiled last month, It Ain’t Water is the latest solo offering from the Kills and Dead Weather luminary, recorded with Alain Johannes who she described as, ‘such a talent and such a kind person’.
“His mind is wide open. He understands and sees the beauty in imperfection, magic moments, accidents- the soulful human stuff, and the spirited super-human hard to explain stuff that makes a song great. Working with him was an honor, and also, hot damn he can play any instrument like a champ… like he invented the instrument himself. Alain Johannes IS music.”
This solo material has been quietly compiled for many years, the aforementioned Rise dating back to 2013. “I didn’t ever forget it,” she said of the track. “I remember right where I was when I wrote it, sitting at my desk in London, missing someone badly.”
