Liam Gallagher has joined the Manic Street Preachers in announcing a free UK show for the NHS later this year.

He’ll play the O2 Arena in London on October 29th for NHS and care workers, adding to the Manics’ plans which include a similar free gig at at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on December 4th.

Like most, Gallagher has found his big summer touring plans curtailed by current events, festival and outdoor shows which had been due to support his second solo album Why Me? Why Not.

“Halo is the spiritual brother of Beady Eye’s Bring The Light, driving honky tonk piano and a whistling breakdown which successfully masks some more lyrical clangers,” our album review reads. “The River rectifies this; a marauding beast taking the modern world to task (‘the device in your hand masks your beauty’).”

“It goes without saying that, as good as these songs are, it’s Gallagher’s voice that makes some of them transcendent. At certain points he goes full falsetto, and his talent for perfectly pitching his vocals to compliment the music continues to be his greatest strength.”
