Quirky album promotion is one of those privileges unique to the superstars, and Coldplay have certainly been indulging during the run-up to the release of Everyday Life.

Next is the announcement of a gig at the Natural History Museum in London on November 25th, shortly after this Friday’s release of their eighth studio record when they’ll be in Amman, Jordan for two performances which will be live-streamed on YouTube.

The album itself was first made known by the band via a letter to their fans, while the tracklist was later revealed in the North Wales Daily Post. “For the last 100 years or thereabouts we have been working on a thing called Everyday Life,” the letter read.

“In the classifieds you might write ‘double album for sale, one very careful owner’. One half is called ‘sunrise’, the other ‘sunset’. It comes out 22 November.”

“It is sort of how we feel about things. We send much love to you from hibernation.”
