Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon will release her debut solo record later this year.
While Gordon has successfully dabbled in many cultural ventures away from Sonic Youth since the band’s formation in the early 80s, it’ll be October 11th when her first solo album, No Home Record, is released, featuring lead single Sketch Artist which has a video out now directed by Loretta Fahrenholz and boasting a cameo from actress and writer Abbi Jacobson. “Why a solo record? And why now?,” Gordon says.
“I don’t know, but it wouldn’t have happened without the persistence of Justin Raisen. Living in LA the last few years it feels like home, but the transience of the place makes it feel sometimes like no home.”
