Sam Fender won’t be at Glastonbury this weekend as he continues to battle an illness.

The singer had been due on the John Peel Stage tomorrow but, like ones at Isle of Wight and Neighbourhood Weekender before it, the appearance has been cancelled. “Absolutely gutted to share that I’ll not be able to perform at Glastonbury this weekend,” a social media message reads.

“It’s always been a dream to play at Worthy Farm and I wouldn’t miss it for the world but the docs have told me I need longer to recover from illness. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to return next year.”

As well as Glastonbury, upcoming festival bookings at Les Eurockeenes, Down The Rabbit Hole and Barn on The Farm have also been cancelled.

Fender’s debut album Hypersonic Missiles, meanwhile, is due for release on August 9th and was written, recorded and produced at his own self-built warehouse studio with producer Bramwell Bronte.
