The Strokes will play Governors Ball at Randall’s Island Park in New York as part of their 2019 ‘global comeback’ which started with a Bilbao BBK confirmation late last year.

The band’s appearance at the New York event, which also hosted their major live return in 2014, has been booked to take place for a headline gig on June 2nd, stealing the thunder from the Bilbao appearance which is coming up over the weekend of July 11th-13th. More names slated for Governors Ball include Tyler The Creator, Florence & The Machine and The 1975.

The Strokes’ comeback is due with their Future Present Past EP now long since past, a release which appeared to be preempting a brand new studio album as Nick Valensi told NME on his CRX promotions that the band were ‘alive and well’ and, when chatting to DIY during the same period, were ‘slowly but surely working on an album’.
