The make-up of the Glastonbury Festival when it returns next year is continuing to emerge.

Kylie Minogue will fill the Sunday afternoon ‘legends’ slot at Worthy Farm, well over a decade on from when she was replaced as a main stage headliner in 2005 by Basement Jaxx after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Sharing the news on social media, the Glastonbury organisers said:

“We are delighted to announce that Kylie is finally bringing her show to Glastonbury. She’ll play the legendary Sunday afternoon slot at next year’s Festival. And we cannot wait.”

Stormzy has already been confirmed as one of the Pyramid Stage headliners for 2019, but it’s the ‘legends’ slot which is increasingly becoming the most popular performance of the weekend, a trend generally regarded as being started by Johnny Cash in 1994. Often televised in full in the UK by the BBC, it delivered a record attendance for a single Glastonbury show when Dolly Parton performed there four years ago.
