Tame Impala will headline next year’s Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta, Georgia.
The bill’s announcement also adds to the live return of Foals, while Beck, Cage the Elephant and Incubus complete the headliners.
Like Foals, there might be new music from Tame Impala once the event takes place between May 3rd-5th; Kevin Parker told Matt Wilkinson on Beats 1 back in the summer that he would be ‘very disappointed’ if there wasn’t a follow-up to Currents by mid-2019. “I’d be very disappointed if we didn’t have something out by then,” he said.
“I love playing the songs live, I love playing Currents songs, I love playing Lonerism songs and everything, but I think I’m ready to play some other songs live. All the instinctual things are there.”
“I mean, my thing is that I don’t like to play unreleased songs live. I like that the first time people hear it is the kind of the recorded glory, like the premeditated thing that I’ve spent two years on, rather than being half drunk bashing it out on stage you know, hitting clanger notes and stuff.”
