The opening track of Rat Boy‘s new album with Tim Armstrong has been unveiled.

Chip On My Shoulder opens a window on Internationally Unknown and its recording sessions at Shiprec Studios in Los Angeles. “I wanted to do this completely differently because ‘SCUM’ took so long, and I was learning the whole way through making it,” Jordan Cardy explained.

“I wanted to make something more personal and raw, which reflected me more. I was trying to find that sweet spot between hip-hop and punk, and Tim really understands that stuff. I’ve never really spoken to anyone else who love hip-hop and punk like I do.”

He’ll tour the UK in November, including three shows in London, before the album’s release on January 25th next year.

Tour dates:

November
8 – Nottingham, Rock City
9 – Liverpool, Invisible Wind Factory
10 – Sheffield, Leadmill
11 – Edinburgh, Queen’s Hall
13 – Bristol, O2 Academy
16 – London, Bush Hall
17 – London, Electric Brixton
18 – London, Electric Ballroom
