The latest Demon Dayz event, which took place in Los Angeles last weekend, brought an onstage reunion for Damon Albarn and his Blur bandmate Graham Coxon.

The pair reunited for a performance of Song 2 as another lengthy Gorillaz set formed the focal point of this edition of Demon Dayz after earlier performances from Erykah Badu, The Internet, DRAM and Little Simz. There was also a first live appearance from guitarist George Benson on Humility.

This is all part of Albarn’s touring with Gorillaz after the release of The Now Now a little earlier this year, an album which has put more of the spotlight on its chief creative force. “I’ve just wanted to make another record so that when we play the gigs this summer there is something nice to play everyone,” Albarn explained to Zane Lowe on Beats 1. “I thought I should make a record where I’m just singing for once. I mean, sorry, 2-D singing for once.”

“It’s an album, I sing on it. It’s pretty much just me singing, very sort of in the world of 2-D but kind of come out and he’s singing very expressively. I feel really good about it. I feel really really good about it. It’s a summer record.”
