The Jesus & Mary Chain will begin recording a new album after their live dates in North America with Nine Inch Nails.

Jim Reid gave the update to Consequence Of Sound, revealing that the band are ‘thinking of doing a new album soon after this tour, that will be the next thing we do’. He added that they’ll look to write brand new material for the record, but may also lay down ‘some songs we’ve had knocking about for awhile’. “We work best with a deadline because we are the laziest people you can imagine,” he continued.

The Jesus & Mary Chain released Damage And Joy, their first studio LP in the best part of two decades, last year after a long spell on the road which began with the 25th anniversary of their classic debut Psychocandy.

The band are set to join Nine Inch Nails on the road through October, November and December, starting with two shows at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, AZ.
