New Music Friday: James – Living In Extraordinary Times

Living In Extraordinary Times

James have released their new album Living In Extraordinary Times today – check it out right here on Live4ever via Spotify.

The sequel to the band’s recent Better Than That EP, Living In Extraordinary Times has been described by frontman Tim Booth as taking hold during the time when Leicester City won the Premier League, ‘then Brexit, then Trump’. “It is as if we’d slipped into an alternate reality, a Philip K Dick reality,” he continued. “We are living in extraordinary times.”

In our review, Live4ever praised the album as one packed full of experiences which, ‘are what the long playing format was made for‘:

“Longer standing acolytes may find this more abrasive edge a little uncomfortable at first, but those who value Booth’s love of intimacy will feel more blessed by How Hard The Way, the mirror of life – an affliction here – held up so close to himself that the image blurs to indistinct.”

“Normally a soul so free of guilt, Coming Home Part 2 has the singer wringing his hands as technology proves no substitute for fatherhood, a rare moment here of tenderness amongst the rubble.”
