Noel Gallagher‘s third solo album Who Built The Moon? and Arctic Monkeys‘ Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino have been nominated for the 2018 Mercury Prize.

While both records have split opinion within their own fanbases, they have in turn been among the most critically acclaimed of their respective careers, and though Arctic Monkeys have been regulars on the shortlist of Britain’s most prestigious annual music prize, it’s Gallagher’s first nomination since 1995 and Oasis’ second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?.

There’s more recognition for the rock world with places on the shortlist for Everything Everything’s A Fever Dream and Wolf Alice’s Visions Of A Life, while Florence & The Machine is on there with the recently released High As Hope.

The winner will be announced on September 20th during a ceremony at the Eventim Apollo in London.
