James Madden and Ryan Murphy of Hooton Tennis Club have launched a new project entitled Seatbelts.
Borne out of the pair’s drunken musings about what The Beatles would spell backwards, they decided one guess summed up their current state perfectly. “The connotations around seat belts fitted so well with our current technology fried brains, the sense of feeling restricted to a screen and strapped into a life that has become pretty automated,” Madden says. “So we went with that.”
“We have 99% trust in each other,” Murphy continues. “In our tastes, playing ability and overall judgement.”
First up from this new venture is the single Hey, Hey Tiger!, due out on March 30th. It will be followed next month by A World Drained Of Wonder, while an EP entitled Songs For Vonnegut is planned for May.
