Noel Gallagher and Jehnny Beth were both back on stage with Gorillaz as the Humanz tour reached London’s O2 Arena last night.
They were reunited with Damon Albarn for a performance of We Got The Power, a collaboration whose evolution has been discussed by Albarn with Rolling Stone:
“At one point, that track was Noel, me and Graham Coxon,” he said. “It was the ultimate self-congratulatory Britpop moment. It was the victory lap, these geezers singing about all the power they had.”
“I went back and opted to doing it like you play something at the end of a film, as the credits roll. Jehnny Beth was necessary. The testosterone levels were off the scale.”
There’s a second London date tonight before South American shows both round off this year and resume proceedings in March 2018.
