Former Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson has unveiled his debut solo single Suitable.

The track comes with the addition of a JD to his name; the first live outing for Nick JD Hodgson will be in support of The Cribs in Leeds on December 18th.

After departing the Kaiser Chiefs late in 2012, the band’s principal songwriter continued those efforts for other artists, and also set up the Birthday Records label. Hodgson’s said the move to a solo career began as he, ‘suddenly felt like he was writing for himself’:

“I’d spent years writing music for other people to sing and collaborate on, but this was a strange feeling: I was gonna write this for me.”

Hodgson has been giving sporadic updates on Twitter and revealed back in June that his former Kaiser Chiefs colleague Andrew White has contributed to the sessions.
