Sampha, Kate Tempest favourites for tonight’s Mercury Prize

Sampha and Kate Tempest are the bookies’ favourites for this year’s Mercury Prize ahead of the ceremony in London this evening.

Sampha’s album Process is leading the way with odds of 7/2 at Ladbrokes, while Kate Tempest and her Let Them Eat Chaos LP is considered another likely winner at 11/4. The rank outsider remains Ed Sheeran, whose big-selling Divide record is back at 20/1.

All the 2017 nominees aside from Sheeran will be performing at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo tonight, as will last year’s winner Skepta.
