Liam Gallagher and LCD Soundsystem were the star attractions as Later…With Jools Holland returned to the BBC last night – videos can be watched below if you’re in the right area.

Gallagher aired live versions of his debut solo single Wall Of Glass and upcoming As You Were album track Greedy Soul, while James Murphy’s group gave a crystal clear display of the qualities which have made American Dream such an essential comeback with a performance of Tonite.

An extended version of show will go out on Saturday.

“Overall, American Dream is a compelling album on so many levels, one that manages to send a boundary-pushing band over the edge,” Live4ever’s review concludes.

“And somehow instead of recording an un-listenable ambient, noisy mess like a post-dance generation equivalent to Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music, you get something very different, something feels more like Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here; it takes the band’s sound and former success to a new level by challenging what they did previously, yet without ever losing sight of the songs.”
