Foo Fighters will release their new album Concrete And Gold on September 17th.

It was recorded with producer Greg Kurstin, the unlikely collaboration’s seeds sown when Dave Grohl heard Again And Again by Kurstin’s band The Bird & The Bee on the radio and found it ‘more sophisticated than anything I’d ever heard’.

“I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever,” Grohl continues. “To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin’s sense of melody and arrangement. Motorhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper…or something like that.”

“So I think maybe Greg is the guy that we ask to be our producer because he’s never made a heavy rock record before and we’ve never worked with a pop producer.”

Kurstin has also been working on Liam Gallagher’s debut solo record, and the former Oasis frontman is one of the star names confirmed for a 12-hour-long rock festival curated by the Foo Fighters which will also take in performances from Queens Of The Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, The Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice, Bob Mould, The Struts, Bully, Circa Waves, Babes in Toyland, Adia Victoria, Fireball Ministry, The Obsessed, Pinky Pinky, Starcrawler and White Reaper.

Dubbed CAL JAM 17, it’s to be held at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA on October 7th.
