Damon Albarn was close to collaborating on Noel Gallagher‘s next solo album, which the former Oasis man confirmed earlier this week is currently slated for release in November.

Youthful Britpop rivalry turned to elder statesmen friendship upon Gallagher’s live guest appearance on Blur’s Tender at the 2013 Teenage Cancer Trust, and it will become professional via his contribution to Humanz when the new Gorillaz album is released on Friday.

And speaking to Vulture, Gallagher revealed the favour would have been returned later this year if not for conflicting schedules. “Well, he was supposed to play on my new record, but at the time I was recording, he was finishing the Gorillaz record and didn’t have the time,” he said.

“Hopefully next time. I’d like to get him to play melodica on something, which is what he was going to do for me on this record.”
