The Who prepare for Las Vegas residency

The Who have arranged a six-gig residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from July 29th-August 11th, though it may not be ending there.

These shows are described as the ‘first run’ for the band, and will follow the acoustic performance of Tommy which is due up at the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 30th as part of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are still then showing no signs of wanting to let go of The Who despite Townshend steeling himself for ‘the beginning of the long goodbye’ when UK arena dates were announced back in 2014.

They also released the brand new track Be Lucky that year on the The Who Hits 50! compilation, but Daltrey has since pretty much ruled out any chance of a full length studio album before they do call it quits.

“We’ve talked about it, but it’s not going to be easy,” he told Rolling Stone. “There’s no record industry anymore. Why would I make a record? I would have to pay to make a record. There’s no royalties so I can’t see that ever happening. There’s no record business. How do you get the money to make the records? I don’t know.”

“I’m certainly not going to pay money to give my music away free. I can’t afford to do that. I’ve got other things I could waste the money on.”
