Primal Scream have been confirmed as the chief support when The Stone Roses take over their hometurf in June.

The Scream back-up the gig at Hampden Park in Glasgow on June 24th, and we encourage everyone to get there in time for the second support act, Steve Mason.

Felix White has promised the summer farewell shows will be ‘the best Maccabees gigs ever’.

Mystery Jets and Idles will be supporting the goodbyes which start with two shows at the Manchester Apollo. A further three nights at Alexandra Palace in London, between June 29th-July 1st, bring the band’s career to a close after well over a decade.

Biffy Clyro, Slaves and Oasis were some of the triumphant acts at last week’s NME Awards.

In the usual contradictory style of these ceremonies, Biffy Clyro were named Best British Band despite their only other nomination being for Best Festival Headliner, while Slaves came out on top in the Best Video category and Oasis picked up two awards on the night.

Paul Weller will warm-up for his Teenage Cancer Trust appearance with a small gig in London next month.

Weller is due to play the 229 venue on March 30th, the day before his latest show for TCT at the Royal Albert Hall in London. From there, a UK tour starts in Bristol on April 1st.

The six volumes of Pink Floyd‘s The Early Years 1965-1972 collection will be available individually from March 24th.

Last year’s box-set was itself divided into six sections focusing on specific portions of the Pink Floyd story, from Cambridge St/ation which told the story of the Syd Barrett-era from 1965-1967 to the world conquering move into progressive rock by 1972 on (OBFUSC/ATION).

Roger Waters

Roger Waters has confirmed the solo album he’s been recording with producer Nigel Godrich will be called Is This the Life We Really Want?.

Although he’s not yet provided a release date, he has said his first solo LP in over two decades will be ‘part magic carpet ride’, ‘part anguish’ and, least surprisingly of all, ‘part political rant’.

The xx have invited Cat Power, Jehnny Beth and others to play a part in their record-breaking run at the Brixton Academy next month.

The seven-night residency at the London venue deserves something special, and the band are certainly doing their best with Sampha, Joy Orbison, the London Contemporary Orchestra and Floating Points some of the others who’ll be supporting between March 8th-15th.

Slaves will take in the summer sun (hopefully) at a UK gig in Margate later this year.

Laurie and Isaac play Dreamland on July 22nd after releasing their second album Take Control last year.

Arcade Fire have announced outdoor UK and Ireland gigs in Belfast, Dublin and Manchester.

Time will be spent on either coast of the Irish Sea in June and July, with shows confirmed for Ormeau Park in Belfast on June 13th, Dublin’s Malahide Castle on the 14th and at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on July 6th.

Ryan Adams will bring his sublime new album Prisoner to the UK and Ireland in September.

The tour starts with dates in Belfast, Cork and Dublin before moving over to England and Scotland from September 14th and a show at the Manchester Apollo.
