Ray Davies to release Americana solo album in April

Americana

Ray Davies‘ first new album in the best part of a decade is due to be released on April 21st.

Americana is described as an ‘autobiographical work, chronicling the inextricable role America has played’ in the Kinks frontman’s life. It was recorded at Konk with The Jayhawks acting as backing band. Poetry is streaming via NPR below.

This solo announcements comes after a couple of years of increased speculation surrounding a reunion for The Kinks, speculation which has returned to a cool state since the summer of 2014. Giving one of the latest updates to Rolling Stone, Dave Davies said: “I’d say there’s an outside shot. But where there’s life, there’s hope. I know Ray has a lot coming up, and I do as well.”
