Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran are again being linked with Glastonbury 2017 by those ever reliable British tabloids.

Foo Fighters have been tipped for a headline appearance at Worthy Farm sooner rather than later since they were forced into a late cancellation in 2015 after Dave Grohl suffered a stage fall and broken leg in Sweden. The band already has European festival commitments booked at Rock Werchter and Roskilde.

Ed Sheeran, meanwhile, recently had betting suspended on him topping the Pyramid Stage next June, and it’s he who The Sun has singled out for some source quotes today.

“Michael is delighted to get Ed signed up,” they claim. “It’s going to be a huge moment for the festival having him up there marking his comeback in front of a giant crowd. Ed’s always said headlining Glastonbury has been a big ambition of his. Topping his three sold-out Wembley Stadium shows last year will be tough, but this is as big as it gets.”

Radiohead are confirmed as headliners, while Emily Eavis has ruled out more consistently strongly rumoured acts The Stone Roses and Daft Punk. “There’s no more announcements now for a while, but I will tell you the other two that have been rumoured aren’t happening,” she said when speaking to NME.

“There was a news story that said Daft Punk and Stone Roses. That’s not true. I don’t know where that came from.”
