Ed Sheeran is looking increasingly likely to fill the second of three headline spots at Glastonbury next year after betting was suspended on him today.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes took the step after enough bets were placed on the songwriter to cut his odds from 7/1 to 1/3, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes commenting: “It looks like Ed’s cameo in the latest Bridget Jones film was the clue all along.”

“Punters have piled into his odds at a rate of knots and we’re left with no option but to close the betting for the time being.”

Radiohead and their strong association with the event are already signed and sealed for Worthy Farm next year, but this would be a first for Sheeran and something of a continuation of the new focus on big selling, commercial pop headliners which really hit its stride last June courtesy of Adele.
