Radiohead Glastonbury 2017 headline rumours gather pace

The rumours linking Radiohead to Glastonbury 2017 have just got significantly stronger.

Why exactly anyone would be watching the BBC’s live Glastonbury webcam at this time of year is beside the point, some of those dedicated souls spotted the band’s bear logo being painted near the Pyramid Stage yesterday, logic suggesting in anticipation of a headline announcement in the near future.

Radiohead were last week strongly linked with another main stage appearance at Worthy Farm by the efestivals site along with The Stone Roses and Daft Punk.

Indeed, speaking to the BBC’s Matt Everitt just recently, guitarist Ed O’Brien was admitting to wanting a return. “I go to Glastonbury every year, it’s my carnival,” he said.

“To be asked to play at Glastonbury again would be magic. I also think Glastonbury is like our spiritual home. It is the mother of all festivals. There’s nothing like that one, it would be great to play there.”

Radiohead are another band to have a strong history with the festival, their performance there in 2003 in particular one of the very best to have graced Worthy Farm.

UPDATE: Radiohead have now been officially confirmed to headline Glastonbury on Friday, June 23rd.
